Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6

I am a mermaid mom from the Queen City of the South. This is my story.

I spend many days thinking about the sea. The days that I don’t are the days I’m in it. The salt lingering in my tongue. The wind playing with my hair. The sand hugging my feet. The ebb and flow of the tide inviting me to come. It has enchanted my soul beyond words.
God reminds me of His grace whenever I’m out at sea. He created something exquisite and mesmerizing and yet so powerful and unforgiving – such is the dynamic of life. I’m forever grateful and humbled by His mercy and grace.

Crunching deadlines in style

I worked in Manila for 9+ years before moving to Cebu to start a family. I was a senior IT and business analyst for SAP Materials Management/ Procurement for multinational companies. The experience molded my work ethics and taught me to always be open to learning. Technology is constantly evolving and what I know now may be irrelevant or outdated tomorrow. It is important to learn from others – not just from more senior or co-tenure ITs but also from younger ones who may be able to share from a different perspective.

The road to going out of my comfort zone and returning to a university (University of the Philippines, no less!) was circuitous and peppered with pushes and pulls. It was only after I gave birth that I finally took a leap of faith. In hindsight, giving up my highly stressful yet decent paying job for my family and school – which is essentially going back to my roots – is both a humbling and enlightening life decision.

I like to speak from my heart and this project is a wonderful outlet for me to showcase my essays, photographs and art. And I guess a few recipes too from time to time. The kitchen is one of my favorite places at home and I spend a lot of time trying to cook up something delicious but not necessarily healthy (sorry, admittedly health is a work in progress for our household of picky eaters) for my family.

I’m currently a stay at home SUPERMOM who juggles family, school and a part time job. Motherhood is the hardest albeit most fulfilling job I’ve had in my entire life! Prayers, love (and comfort food, lots of it) often do great in taking away all the pressure. Yes, a bit of wine (or more, whichever alcohol amount is best for my sanity) is also a MUST.
