Bugsay | A Documentary of Empowered Women was created to put focus on the fact that women are more than just bodies. Who could better help us see through the layers of bias and labels dictated by media, pop culture and society but Cebu’s pride and inspiration, the PADS’ Women’s Dragon Boat team. They exemplify strength, resilience, power and grace. And more than anything else, they will teach us that real beauty pushes boundaries and can be instrumental to making a change to our community.
Director Notes
This production was created with the support and permission of PADS (Philippine Accessible Disability Services). It also adds perspective to my research paper Redefining Beauty in the Internet Age which can be seen below. Parts of the video are in Tagalog and/or Bisaya. I have created a custom closed caption which you can use should you need help with the translations. Simply turn on the CC functionality while watching the video.
