Bugsay | A Documentary of Empowered Women

Bugsay | A Documentary of Empowered Women was created to put focus on the fact that women are more than just bodies. Who could better help us see through the layers of bias and labels dictated by media, pop culture and society but Cebu’s pride and inspiration, the PADS’ Women’s Dragon Boat team. They exemplify strength, resilience, power and grace. And more than anything else, they will teach us that real beauty pushes boundaries and can be instrumental to making a change to our community.

As promised, below is the research paper from which the above documentary is based.

Please feel free to read through and, if need be, quote the paper. However it is my humble request that you remember to give credit where credit is due. Let me know what you think. Send an email to mrolavides@up.edu.ph 🙂

I like to speak from my heart and this project is a wonderful outlet for me to showcase my essays, photographs and art. And I guess a few recipes too from time to time. The kitchen is one of my favorite places at home and I spend a lot of time trying to cook up something delicious but not necessarily healthy (sorry, admittedly health is a work in progress for our household of picky eaters) for my family.
