I have loved Urbandub since they came out in the early 2000s and silently wished I could somehow see them perform live. Years passed and due to my hectic work schedule, I never got to see them on any of their shows. One day, my then boyfriend but now husband took me on a trip to Cebu Tops and for the first time I saw what the band meant when they referred to Sugbo as the city that shines like diamonds. Since then taking a decent night photo from Cebu Tops has been on my personal bucket list. I have attempted many times but the perfect shot seems elusive.
Last 2015, Urbandub performed at our company Christmas party and I honestly died a little when they said it would be the last time they will perform as a group. Now that I have a family of my own, I still listen to Urbandub’s music moreso if the day has been exceptionally difficult. Old habits die hard, I guess. And yes, I also wait for the day that I can finally get that photo I have been daydreaming about – one that would take me back to the night I came to Cebu Tops with the man I love and a heart unsure if ready to be hurt but went on falling anyway.
I’m going to attempt something utterly millenial so forgive me if Tita Chedeng falls short. Below is a series of Instagram posts I’ve made through the years. You see my husband and I used to be in an LDR. To say that it was challenging is a gross understatement. I can go on and tell you our love story but that would be for another time, preferably over wine or beer. In the remote case you live under a rock and haven’t heard of Urbandub, here is a video of one of their most memorable songs. Indulge me and listen.
Now why are there onion cutting ninjas all of a sudden?
