Knowing Where I’m At (Part 1)

My favorite photos are arranged according to the year and place they were taken. I just realized most of the photos and videos in my phone were for UPOU projects that albeit important are still lacking that personal connection to be deemed “a favorite”. The truth is there are many times I wish I whipped out my phone to snap a picture. However there is an inexplicable beauty in remaining in the moment and being caught in the trance of that perfect time that you simply have to take in everything without any distractions. There are times that we get too engrossed in the appeal of sharing that moment in social media that we forget to just take it all in and live in the moment. We lose that precious opportunity to cherish that split second of now and then which will never come back.

You may think I’m saying this as an excuse. Well, maybe yes, maybe no. I’m just glad I was able to at least come up with 10 of my favorites. So here are the ones that made it to my list. I hope you enjoy browsing them as much as I did when I reminisced on how these photos came to be.

The four photos above were taken from our trip to Bohol last year. It means so much to me because it was a trip that I was really looking forward to. I’m 31 weeks pregnant that time (37 weeks now!) and I was raring to go on a babymoon with my husband and our toddler. This trip was amazing and I had great fun romping around in my bathing suit with my huge belly and toddler in tow. Definitely one for the books.

My daughter often shows me why the Bible said the kingdom of heaven belongs to the children. She takes in everything one day at a time and she looks at the world with so much awe and wonder. I would if I could go back to those days when everything is slow, steady and yet also surprising. Adulthood takes away the innocence of not knowing what is next and not caring what it will be.

My beloved Queen City of the South. Mere pictures are incapable of giving justice to its ethereal beaches and deep blue waters. I moved here after I got married to the love of my life and proudly Bisdak husband. It wasn’t easy for me to adjust and to this day my Bisaya speaking skills is a work in progress. This doesn’t deter me from being a mermaid mom and I’m teaching my guppies a.k.a my children the ways of an island girl. Let the sun bleach your hair and wrinkle your skin. The water is worth it.

I like to speak from my heart and this project is a wonderful outlet for me to showcase my essays, photographs and art. And I guess a few recipes too from time to time. The kitchen is one of my favorite places at home and I spend a lot of time trying to cook up something delicious but not necessarily healthy (sorry, admittedly health is a work in progress for our household of picky eaters) for my family.
